I’ve been there. There was a period of my life when I felt consumed by worry, high expectations, and a lack of direction and, if someone had asked, I would have said that I felt overwhelmed and like my thoughts were messy. I would not have been able to describe myself or my dreams. I felt lost and panic-stricken.
Through my own journey, I have since rediscovered myself, my dreams, and my happiness. And it’s brought me to tell you something very important: Anxiety, panic, depression, stress, grief …these feelings don’t need to define you. Happiness, self-understanding, and peace can be found. In fact, you deserve it.
I can imagine that it may be intimidating and nerve-wracking to tell a stranger about your problems, particularly if you’ve been trying to manage them on your own for a long time. With that in mind, I believe that the development of trust between a client and counsellor is of the utmost importance. I make it my priority to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore their problems, behaviours, feelings, and thoughts. I see the uniqueness in all of my clients and I am a curious listener in every session.
I believe that life is about choices. We can choose to be stuck in our current patterns or we can choose to make changes and move forward in a positive, healthy manner. I know that’s a frightening or overwhelming idea for many people. But choice can be empowering and exciting – it may even allow you to regain some of the control that you may feel has been lost over time. By booking a counselling appointment, you are choosing change and positive movement...and I'm so excited for you!
To borrow words from Henry David Thoreau, “Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.” My interpretation of that quote is that, in those moments when we feel the most vulnerable, we can choose to see ourselves for who we really are. I want to help you with the process of understanding yourself and finding your happiness.
